Allison Vitsky Sallmon

🇺🇸  If you are fascinated by underwater photography, you’ve might have heard of today’s #MaritimeHerStory star: Allison Vitsky Sallmon. The Florida native started diving in 1992 and, after a trip to the Solomon Islands with amazing photographers, she fell in love with the art of underwater photography.

She has traveled all over the world taking impressive pictures of marine life and her work has been published and recognized multiple times, making her one of the most prolific underwater photographers in the present day. Allison has been working both alone and with her husband, the marine photographer, and veteran diver Andy Sallmon.

Her experience diving was also part of her recovery process after a breast cancer diagnosis. The photographer went through the treatment in Boston and strength in browsing through dive magazines, admiring the images, and dreaming about her future diving destinations.

In 2015, after her recovery, Allison founded Dive into the Pink, Ink, a non-profit focused on raising money to fight cancer in an unconventional way – by going scuba diving with friends. All the profits from the organization’s dive charters go towards survivor support and breast cancer research.

🇧🇷 Se você admira fotografias submarinas, você talvez já conheça a estrela do #MaritimeHerStory de hoje: Allison Vitsky Sallmon. Nascida na Flórida (EUA), ela começou a mergulhar em 1992 e, depois de uma viagem
às Ilhas Salomão com um grupo de fotógrafos, apaixonou-se pela arte de fotografar a vida submarina.

Allison viajou o mundo todo fazendo imagens impressionantes da vida marinha e seu trabalho foi publicado e premiado múltiplas vezes, fazendo dela uma das mais importantes fotógrafas submarinas da atualidade.
