A survey conducted by the World Sailing Trust shed a light on what we, women who sail, already new: “60 per cent of female respondents have experienced gender discrimination, but this worsens to 71 per cent for women in the 25- to 30-year-old bracket”.
I’ve been part of the sailing community for around 10 years, most of it in Brazil. And if I right an article about all of the absurds I’ve been through simply for being a woman, this article will be like The Lusiad (a 288-page long epic poem by one of the most important Portuguese language poets, Luís Vaz de Camões).
